Emmitt like in size; Emmitt wasn't a burner, but he made people miss.

Hope Trevor Etienne is as good as his brother.
Emmitt was the best ever at reading blocks. That was his great skill. He was like a chess master, reading everybody else's actions 7 moves ahead and taking the path that led to the most yards. Not saying he had no other skills, he had good change of direction, decent speed, strong lower body, etc. But it was his vision that made him the greatest running back ever.

This. He was definetly good at reading blocks, staying patient and anticipating and he deceptively had good moves and he was just hard to tackle. Notice throughout his entire career he hardly ever took any real hard hits as well. The guy would play through injuries and through the majority of his career was an every down back. Many people don’t realize how good he was catching out of the backfield as well as a great blocker. A true all around RB.
To this day still my favorite football player of all time.

Love it, not the flashiest, just goes and goes and goes.....through traffic, inside, outside, around the corner......just steady going in all directions. I see the Emmit comparisons mentioned, 5'9", balanced legs, built solid, calmly churning out yards, eyes across the whole field. 12.3 ypc ain't too shabby, haha.

Wright appears to be in line to be the starter but Bowman will be able to make his case for it this season. I have my doubts Lingard becomes real good all at once since he really didn't show much at Miami or here so far when up against FBS competition anyway.

What leads to a solid running game, in iG's order of necessity?

1. OL - TE - WR consistent blockers
2. Play designs & coaching
3. A stable of quality RB's (2 5-stars + 2 4-stars)

In 2021 -

Davis rsSr -To NFL
Rush 92 for 487, 5.3 ypc, 5 TD's
Rec - 23 for 217 yds, 9.4 yd/rec, 2 TD's

Pierce Sr - To NFL
Rush 100 for 574 yds, 5.7 ypc, 13 TD's
Rec - 19 for 216 yds, 11.4 yd/rec, 3 TD's

----------
Wright rsSo ****
Rush - 76 for 326 yds 4.3 ypc, 1 TD, L-34
Rec - 14 for 178 yds, 12.7 yd/rec, 1 TD, L-51

As seldom used spot backups:

Lingard rsJr *****
Rush - 11 for 43 yds, 3.9 ypc, 0 TD, L-12
Rec 1 for 9 yds

Bowman rsFr *****
Rush - 14 for 81 yds, 5.8 ypc, 0 TD, L-26

Would have loved to have seen him in the fun n gun offense in '90.
