The messages defense entered included a reference to 'the Director' meaning Comey.
Might be because Durham is setting up his exit on this stuff after 3 plus years and people on the right can claim DC juries while he accomplished his not publicly known directive not to totally destroy the rep of the crooked FBI.
We know the crooks at the FBI of course are going to dig things up for Sussmann's lawyer to use but I do agree the prosecutor should have fended off the damage with his witnesses first before letting the defense attack it. The 2nd go at it will never be as effective.

I feel bad for our side but I learned my lesson after putting faith in swamp rats like AG Barr before. About all he did was keep Trump from getting impeached on a joke obstruction charge where Mueller and them were going to claim his "mean" tweets constituted obstruction of their attempted coup. Rosenstein would have gave the OK on that if still in charge but it would have been a joke just like the Ukraine setup they tried.

My loan hope is waiting to go for the jugular when the RATS get crushed in the mid terms. That’s the only thing that makes any sense to me. He will have a lot more ammunition and political cover to put these RATS behind bars.
Would be nice but with a Dem in the WH I think Durham will step down or close shop before the Reps take Congress in 01/23. I think it's really likely if Sussmann beats this charge. If Sussmann doesn't I guess there is a chance he hangs around longer. I could see a Rep controlled congress calling him to testify on what he found even if he closed shop though.

The defense is absolutely eviscerating FBI leadership. In fact, the defense apparently suggested in open court today that FBI leadership should be prosecuted.
You guys keep saying the deep state won't let the deep state get arrested. Guys, this is the deep state MAKING THE CASE FOR PROSECUTING the deep state! This is literally the hillary camp saying leave us alone, arrest the FBI instead!
This is the equivalent of Durham indicting hillary, and he gets her on the stand and asks her why she interfered in the election, and hillary says 'I only did it cause PRESIDENT OBAMA TOLD ME TO DO IT! He's the one you should be going after!'

If you've been reading my posts on this investigation since 2018, you know I ignored the investigation for much of 2019 cause I really did think it was going no where. We had months and months of no new intel, then there's a slap on the wrist charge on Kevin Clinesmith.
I thought that was the end of the investigation and stopped following it. Then a couple months later I noticed it hadn't ended, and started poking around again.
It's snowballed since then.
When I'm posting about this case, it's because I've seen something that excites me. I've never been more excited about this investigation than I am right now, and this case is setting up to almost be a huge win for Durham even if he loses it.
And the NEXT case he is in even better shape on and will be even more significant.
Durham's got me by the nads right now, I'm all in on what he's selling.
All I will say on that is remember Barr's talk that had so many thinking he was bringing real justice. I look at this the same way now except Durham isn't talking like Barr he is just exposing more stuff while letting the biggest crooks off the hook. With Danchenko scheduled for 5 months from now it would be shocking for him to go after any big player now. The guy already had the basics from other investigations. No reason to slow walk grand jury stuff and minor cases etc unless your mission was just to expose the corruption while letting them walk. It's been over 3 frickin years. Reminds me of the Clinton foundation stuff.
Gov just entered into evidence the receipt from Sussmann going to the Staples next to Perkins Coie and buying a thumb drive to put the alfa bank hoax on.

BTW let's assume the defense does go all in on hammering the FBI. If the defense truly thinks Durham has made his case, then that's likely what they will do, and hope that the jury will be mostly hillary supporters and hate the FBI like most of her supporters do.
If that happens, then it kinda puts Durham in the catbird's seat, it would seem. The defense can just air all the FBI's dirty laundry, Durham can pick it up for his ongoing investigation, and shoot down anything from the defense that he feels helps his current case.

I think the defense will argue he went their on his own and not for the campaign because the campaign didn't trust the crooked FBI and will point out how crooked the FBI appears to be from their own testimony. They will probably also stress it's clear the FBI knew he worked for the Dems so it's nonsense the argument that anything affected how things were handled.

BTW it should go without saying, but if the defense is considering calling the defendant the day before a trial is supposed to end, it's because they fear the prosecution has made their case.

I think they would be crazy to let him considering his house testimony and that he billed hours that day. If he doesn't they can spin like crazy on those things.
If he does, I'm thinking the plan has to be to tear into the FBI, especially Baker.
I can't see Durham being too upset about that.
The lawyers are saying it's dependent on the judges ruling if his negotiations with the prosecutors info can be used or not if he does. Still think it would be crazy to put him on the stand and wonder if he is pushing it himself. Lawyers seem to think they know better than their counsel many times.
