Gators to Hire Ron Roberts as LB Coach, Co-Defensive Coordinator ?

Arch Manning & Jaden Rashada
https://www.si.com/college/2022/06/...a-top-quarterback-college-football-recruiting

Arch Manning is set to take his final planned official visit this weekend and Jaden Rashada comes off the board this Saturday. To say the college football recruiting world isn't entering a critical week of quarterback dominoes would be misleading.

Arch took the second of three official visits over the weekend, spending time with Nick Saban and Alabama.
Manning was at Georgia the previous week and plans to return to Texas this coming weekend.
Arch also spent time at nearby LSU, technically visiting Brian Kelly's staff for the first time as a recruit, for a team 7-on-7 camp prior to taking off for Tuscaloosa.

Sports Illustrated confirmed Bama's plans to take a second QB recruit in the class of 2023, UA took the commit of Eli Holstein, on May 24.
Saban, Bill O'Brien and the rest of the staff will continue to court Manning, who has now visited Alabama at least three times as a recruit.
IMO, Holstein > Manning & even Saban can't pull this off !

Though there is no official timeline for his verbal commitment, Steve Sarkisian & Texas now get the last known OV for Arch.

Over the weekend, more buzz around a potential unofficial visit to Florida, something Manning hinted at in May, picked up some steam.
IMO, NO WAY; Arch just running up the NIL offers from his big three - like Nicholaus Iamaleava & the $2MM/YR he got from the Tenn Vols.
https://www.secrant.com/rant/sec-fo...n-deal-with-tennessees-nil-program/101654925/
It should be noted that Manning will not likely make any trips during the Manning Passing Academy, set to take place in his native Louisiana June 23–26.

Jaden Rashada wrapped up his weekend at the Overtime OT7 tournament after back-to-back-to-back official visits to Texas A&M, LSU and Florida.

This was his 1st visit to College Station while the return to Gainesville was a second visit to UF in as many weeks.

Over the weekend, he told SI there are no planned visits remaining—meaning Rashada and his inner circle will be in full evaluation mode before a scheduled decision on June 18.

Article has info about Dante Moore & other QBs also; but Gators are not in on them, so I ignored them.

Jaden Rashada Taking Unofficial Visit to Oregon Football This Weekend

Per MAX TORRES - MAY 13, 2022

Pittsburg (Calif.) 5-star (0.9856 on 247Sports Composite) quarterback Jaden Rashada will make his way back to Eugene this weekend for an unofficial visit, as first reported by Brandon Huffman of 247Sports and confirmed by a source to DucksDigest.com.

As for Rashada, Oregon has some ground to make up in this recruitment, but the fact that he's visiting unofficially is a positive sign, as he'll likely take an official visit to Eugene as well.

The communication between the Ducks and the talented signal caller has been increasing this spring, and he's built a strong bond with the staff.

RECRUIT SPEAK BELOW -
"It's been pretty heavy. Me and Coach Dillingham and Lanning built a great relationship," Rashada said. "Those are two real good dudes. They're pretty genuine."

Ducks ? Who knows ?
Oregon a decent program; with Dillingham, they will figure out how to play better Defense. Oregon closer than the SEC - except for aTm, which may matter.

Rashada does have 1 OV left; maybe Ducks are saving up all their Quackers for Rashada's NIL fund.

Hope I'm wrong, but IMO, this does not look good for the Gators. Could just be Rashada's equivalent of entering the Transfer Portal - hoping to increase the NIL$ on the table, but who knows ?

Gator's are already 5 over the 85 ship limit, so let's worry about bringing in more guys, while none on the current roster are going into the portal. Makes sense to me...

When will Billy begin the forced pulling of ships, forcing some on the current Gator roster out, with inverse recruiting?

Who are your candidates to get the 'yanked-ship ax' first?

If the NCAA does go ahead and re-institute the limit of 85 scholarships in 2022, it would be reminiscent of 1987, when the NCAA changed its football scholarship limit from 95 to 85.

The NCAA did say that all football programs will be allowed to go over its allowed 85 scholarships for the 2021 season. So programs would be able to sign the same amount of 2021 recruits it would have anyway.

But it didn’t say anything about 2022 and beyond.
The NCAA has yet to rule on when football programs will be required to return to the overall limit of 85 scholarship players. It was originally thought the NCAA would allow programs to go over the limit for two years after the rule takes effect – so for the 2021 and 2022 school years. That makes some sense since the extra scholarship players could naturally shake out by 2023 and it would have a chance to return on its own to normal numbers of scholarship players, or at least close to it. Jaden Rashada has pushed his college commitment back from June 18, AllGators has learned via John Garcia, Jr. of Sports Illustrated All-American. A new commitment date has not officially been announced.
https://www.si.com/college/florida/...ruiting-jaden-rashada-pushing-back-commitment

If he was gung-ho Gators, he would have committed here.

May decide on a quick trip to S florida & the Canes, but I am thinking its aTM.

IMO, he is just trying to run up the NIL$; don't blame him; if I had Jaden's talent, I would do the same thing ! LOL

"I’m going to push it back," Rashada told 247Sports. "My grandma's birthday is the 26th of June."

So Rashada will now announce his decision on June 26th on CBS Sports HQ, with the time still TBD.

Rashada will choose from between Florida, LSU, Miami, Ole Miss and Texas A&M.

There is an outside chance he takes an official visit to Miami this week, but Rashada said that isn't for certain yet.

Zach Ragan A-Z sports June 12

https://atozsports.com/nashville/texas-georgia-recruiting-vols-virginia-arch-manning/

Alabama is still in the mix, but after receiving a commitment from 2023 four-star quarterback Eli Holstein last month, it feels like the Crimson Tide could be fading in the race for Arch.

Florida, LSU, and Ole Miss are still hanging around in the battle for Arch, but it would be a surprise at this point if the highly-coveted recruit committed to any of those three programs.

Gators can't even get an UOV !

Georgia or Texas are the most likely destinations for Manning. But there’s another program that could be a darkhorse contender to land the talented quarterback.

I don’t think we can rule out Arch shocking everyone and choosing Virginia over Georgia and Texas.

Arch has deep family connections to Virginia. His mother went to school in Charlottesville and his sister is currently a student at Virginia (his aunt, Peyton’s wife, also went to Virginia).

I don’t think Manning loves the offense that Kirby Smart and his staff run at Georgia. It obviously works for the Bulldogs — they’re the defending national champions. But it’s not an offense that truly lets a quarterback shine. It’s a run-heavy offense that requires more of a game-manager at quarterback instead of a superstar.

Gators hope to have the same run-heavy offense; perhaps this is one reason we can't attract a 5* QB

The Texas offense under Sarkisian is probably a better fit for Manning. But if Sarkisian struggles in year two (he went 5-7 in his first year as the program’s head coach), it could change Manning’s perception of the Longhorns (another losing year could also cost Sarkisian his job).

Virginia could be an interesting option for Manning. It’s a place where Manning could be cut loose and truly excel. HOW ?

IMO, writer is blowing smoke here -
Tony Elliott was hired on Dec. 10, 2021; he has never been a HC
Virginia went 6-6 in 2021
Rivals Team Recruiting Ranking - Virginia #74; Florida #51

Cavaliers head coach Tony Elliott was Dabo Swinney’s offensive coordinator at Clemson for seven years. With Elliott running the offense, the Tigers won two national championships. Clemson also had two quarterbacks selected in the first round during that time period (Deshaun Watson at No. 12 overall in the 2017 NFL Draft and Trevor Lawrence at No. 1 overall in the 2021 NFL Draft).

Long Snapper Gets Offer From Gators

Gannon Burt Is Top Ranked Long Snapper

He is beyond ready for college now and is still, without a doubt, the #1 Long Snapper in the class of 2023. Moves well on his feet, handles pressure like a champ and his form is gorgeous.
Gannon consistently has a snap to holder time under one second and was as low as .68 second at his recent camp in Las Vegas.

As several have pointed out - LS can not win a game; but they can LOSE a game.

"Before you can win a game, you have to not lose it."

Chuck Noll

https://hailfloridahail.com/2022/06/15/florida-gators-offer-long-snapper/

Vince Dooley (still living) will now be officially allowed to say - "The gators have a great Long Snapper !"

Origin of quote -
Vince Dooley when asked about William & Mary before playing them.
"They have the best long snapper I've ever seen."

Almost as good as Spurrier's quote about the fire in the Auburn library that destroyed 20 books: “The real tragedy was that 15 hadn’t been colored yet.”
https://ftw.usatoday.com/2015/10/steve-spurriers-15-greatest-trash-talking-quotes

Some Chuck Noll quotes that Billy Napier seems to be IMPLEMENTING -

"The single most important thing we had in the Steelers of the '70s was the ability to work together."

"In 1969, we decided we had to do certain things technically to win, and we decided to do them then, even though we knew some of the personnel couldn't do it. In other words, instead of adapting the system to the players, we just installed our system. Then we set out to fill our team through the draft."

"We were really lucky and fortunate in the '70s because we got a group of not only good football players but good people... a group that wanted to be together and wanted to be the best."

ZACH GOODALL -- 4 HOURS AGO

(WTF? A bogus claim imo)

2020-21 13 Gms, 88 of 121, 72.7%, 1,666, 18.9, 27 TD, 6 Int, QBR 133.7
2021-22 14 Gms, 167 of 235, 71.1%, 2,750, 16.5, 41 TD, 4 Int, QBR 142.6
----- Rushing -----
2020-21 13 Gms 154 for 992 yds, 6.4 ypc, 13 TD's - 1 LPF
2021-22 14 Gms 173 for 1,343 yds, 7.8 ypc, 20 TD's - 1 LPF

Combined 2 seasons stats:
P - 255 of 356, 71.6% for 4,416 yds, 17.3 yds/comp. 68 TD's, 10 Ints, QBR 141.3
R - 327 for 2,335 yds, 7.1 ypc, 33 TD's, 2 LPF's
2022 Okla District 3 3A MVP, and the 13-1 state champ runner-up.

Sr Season Total Off. - 4,093 yds, 61 TD's, 4 Ints, 1 LPF - QBR 142.6

Brown is considered a long-term development prospect (BS) who won't be taking the field for the Gators anytime soon. (says you) But when you put on his high school tape, it becomes easy to understand why Napier and his staff are willing to commit to coaching up Brown's game.

Zack, when I put his tape on, what I see is a QB that has outperformed Arch and other recruiting service 5-star rated QB's. -- BTW, Max enrolled at UF on May 25th.

Brown's late arrival on the football scene led to a quiet recruitment without much coverage, --
No, him not paying to go to any recruiting camps led to his low rating and lack of attention. He has a very accurate, strong arm, and he'd be a 4-star if he was only being evaluated as a RB in the iG's book (Sr - 1,343 yds, 7.8 ypc, 20 TD's - 1 LPF).... As a 71.6% dual threat QB, I'd rate him as a Top 3 5-star...

As to Zach's claim of his mechanics needing work, with his on the field results, I'd go with the old saying 'If it ain't broke (71.6% 68 TD's 10 Ints), then don't try to fix it' attitude....
Outsiders whined about Wuerffel & Tebow's mechanics, but I'm going with their demonstrated results, leading to their Heisman Trophy's and SEC/NC's....

I also see a 2-sport star that was projected to be a middle round baseball draft pick coming straight out of HS. He's an exceptional multi-threat athlete.

4-star QB Jaden Rashada OV to Miami

Pittsburg (Calif.) four-star quarterback Jaden Rashada has scheduled a midweek official visit to Miami, On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons reports.

Simmons says the visit will come this week and could last as long as Tuesday through Thursday.

https://www.on3.com/college/miami-hurricanes/news/4-star-qb-jaden-rashada-sets-miami-official-visit/

The Miami football program is expected to receive an official visit from four-star quarterback Jaden Rashada sometime this week. There are conflicting reports if Rashada will visit during the week or this weekend. Chad Simmons of On3 reported that Rashada will begin his visit to Coral Gables on Tuesday.

Per Simmons, the visit from Rashada could last as long as Thursday. A pair of reports from 247 Sports state Rashada is visiting this weekend. The visit from Rashada comes after the Pittsburg, California prospect delayed his commitment from June 18 to the 26. The Miami football program is one of five finalists for Rashada.

Florida, LSU, Mississippi and Texas A&M are the other four finalists to receive a visit from Rashada. The On3.com predicition machine projects Florida has a 46.6 percent chance to receive a commitment from Rashada. Texas A&M is second at 18.5 percent and Miami third at 14.9.

I would say it makes it easier to rate guys. It's more of a crap shoot I would think when a kid is playing small ball but for the top recruits I would guess all these camps would help expose some players they might be too high on initially.

The problem is these guesses would have to know the NIL deals being discussed to have any clue where the most likely destination is. Maybe they do but I wouldn't count on them having that. I guess the kid talking up a school more than the others might be a sign of what may be going on with that.

Is the level of competition a factor in star ratings?
Star ratings come from many different rating services, each with their own set of criteria and bias.
Boiled down, all ratings from anybody are just their own expressed OPINIONS, and nothing more.
Nobody is right and nobody is wrong, all of the time. We each give our opinions, and then take a bow, or a punch in the mouth somewhere later down the road after reality has expressed itself....

The iG's rating standards:
First up is what their HS coach and/or their teammates say about them.
Next is what the Gator coaching staff has to say after evaluating them.
But what I trust is my own eval after looking at their physical bio/history, their stats, and their highlight reels from their seasons and/or camps (Elite-11 etc).

The various recruiting services are good for a general rating most times (not always), but their hit/miss is there for anyone to see,,, IF they look closely.

Right here at UF, they've had 5 stars busts that didn't even get drafted, and 2-3 stars that go in the 1-2 Rnds of the NFL draft. Class rankings and individual star ratings are a place to begin, but are only background for me in most cases, and that has changed over the many years that I've been watching it. I trust them less now than maybe I did years ago. But hey, each to his own when it comes to recruiting, because it's all just opinions at this point.

Fever,
They are a West Team & I don't follow them much; but their record setting recruiting class, got everyone's attention.

Even though Zach Calzada, last year's QB1, transferred to Auburn, aTm still has 3 scholarship QBs.

Haven't seen any discussion about QB play in their spring game & frankly doubt that any of them actually "won" the QB1 job. Who knows how things will play out in the Fall.

https://www.cbssports.com/college-f...e-fate-of-its-historic-2022-recruiting-class/

Haynes King: The sophomore won the starting job out of camp in 2021 and took first-team reps in fall and spring 2021. He threw three interceptions against Kent State before suffering a lower-leg injury in the first drive against Colorado. King is a dynamic athlete and perhaps the best runner of the group. Having experience in the offense is an edge.

Max Johnson: The LSU transfer is intriguing for a number of reasons, not the least of which is that Fisher has started only one transfer quarterback in his career -- Everett Golson at Florida State in 2015 before Golson was replaced by homegrown Sean Maguire. Johnson had thrown for nearly 4,000 yards with 35 touchdowns in 18 appearances on a chaotic Tigers squad. Stepping into a stable Texas A&M offensive system could help him maximize his game.

Conner Weigman: The early-enrollee is the wild card of the bunch. Weigman rated as the nation's No. 2 quarterback recruit and a consensus five-star. He rates as the Aggies' best quarterback recruit since Kyle Allen in 2014 and has stuck around in the competition in his first spring since moving up from Cypress (Texas) Bridgeland. Fisher raves about his quick release and fundamentals.

Would love to see Rashada commit to Gators, but don't think it happens. Especially with him taking this last OV to Miami. School getting the last OV, usually in better shape to sign him.

UNLESS - they have an NIL Checkbook as thick as aTm's ! LOL

Fever,
They are a West Team & I don't follow them much; but their record setting recruiting class, got everyone's attention.

If A&M likes Weigman not sure they will give Rashad a big NIL offer.

Well if A&M thinks they can wait to get their QB next season we may get him. I think they have some younger guys.

Richarson So
Brown Fr
Kitna rsFr
Miller III rsFr
UF could easily wait a year if need be imo, to get another QB....

We don't have anyone rated as high as the young A&M QB and Richardson will be gone if he is the real deal. We could wait a year though.

Richardson and his smart Momma might want him to get his UF degree before leaving. We'll see.

Brown's a 5-star QB-dt in the iG's ratings, and I wouldn't trade him for anyone at aTm.
(anyone can be incorrect, so I might be, but I'm seeing him as another way under-rated like Trask)

And if Nappy hadn't brought in chump Miller (da-turd') III, then it might look like this to me for 2022:
QB-dt Richardson So
QB-dt Del Rio-Wilson rsFr
QB-dt Brown Fr
QB-pp Kitna rsFr

As it stands, I'm hoping it's Brown that turns out to be AR-15's backup for 22.
