Carry over to Gator 2023-24 Basketball :-)

It looks like we're going to have a losing record in basketball. Tonight they played really good the first 15 minutes of the game and sucked the rest of the way. Castleton was the only guy who played well. Too many forced, stupid shots, too much standing around, forced passes and terrible shooting especially beyond the arc where we went 2-22.

ocala, wasn't one of Golden's big things upon arrival, improving the 3 Pt shooting consistency???

Living and dying at the Arc:

L Vs Xavier 9 of 27 -- .333

L Vs WVa 2 of 17 -- .118

L Vs UConn 4 of 15 -- .267

L Vs Okla 2 of 22 -- .091 (Making progress across the season?) 🙄

But at least that crappy 'no offense' MW dude is gonzo.... 😉

You're right. This analytics approach is supposed to put guys in the best positions on the court to increase their shooting percentages. So far, I've not been impressed with what he's doing with this group of players. Too much 1 on 1 play and a lot of standing around.

NET ranking is now #64 and we're 0-5 vs. Quad 1 teams. To show how weak our schedule has been so far, we haven't played a Quad 2 teams yet and only 1 game vs. a Quad 3 team, which we won. 6 of our wins have been against Quad 4 teams.
Sounds about right. We haven’t beaten anybody with a pulse. We have actually played some good teams in Xavier, West Virginia, UCONN (might be best team in the country) & Oklahoma. I don’t expect us to do well in the SEC. For one the SEC is loaded this year and we aren’t very good. I don’t expect much improvement to be honest either. We don’t have a true PG and have zero shooters outside of maybe Reeves when he’s on his game & it is a thrown together roster that doesn’t mesh well. It’s going to make for a long ugly season. Up next is likely a bad loss to Auburn.

When the Gator 3-Pt shooters go cold, it's a loss on the way....

That was true for BillyD, Mike White, and now Golden....

Golden's big deal when he arrived was to improve the Gator's 3-Pt shooting consistency. So far,,,, FAIL!
😒

Hopefully they will get the Golden touch on those outside shots when SEC play starts.

As a Christmas gift exchange game I just got the video of the Gator Men's BB back to back national championship teams from 2006/2007 and watched it tonight. How far removed we are from the type of talent and coaching UF had during those glory years. In hindsight I wonder if Billy Donovan regrets his decision to go to the NBA instead of making his mark as one of the best all time college basketball coaches. What if?

Oh well, it was a good 19 year run...

We need an Auburn win bad to get on track. Auburn is ranked but their pre-SEC resume doesn't look that great. Just one good win in there.

I just don't see us having a winning record in the SEC. And I think it will take 11 or 12 conference wins to make the NCAA tournament, considering that we're only 7-5 now.

Yep with no good wins out of conference we need to be 11-7 probably if its still 18 games.

I refuse to keep on beating an already dead horse.... 😑

I might be the only one, but I wish we still had Dan and Mike.
We might, if not for a 2 year Scamdemic, and a Socialist-U....

(and I still believe the KJ was the Gator's 1st poison fake vax casualty, hope he's over it for good)

I’m pretty sure the 3 point shooting has improved. We are shooting 35.2% from 3 which is 103rd in the country. Last year we were 30.3% which was 321st in the country.

WoW!!! Tourney and the E-8 at least with that kind of solid improvement....

The thing is, CONSISTENCY from game to game was the objective, not an overall % increase....

3 Pt % by the game vs Opp:

.400 - Stoney Brook - W
.364 - Kenesaw St - W
.471 - Fla Atl - L --- The only aberration loss. (Bonham 0 Pts)
.176 - FSU - W --- The only aberration win. (Bonham 11 Pts)

.333 - Xavier - L
.421- OreSt - W
.118 - WVa - L
.591 - FL-A&M - W
.500 - Stetson - W
.267 - UConn - L
.455 - Ohio - W
.091 - Okla - L

Just making your 3's vs the chumps ain't gonna get it done.

It's the Analytics that tells the true Golden story.... 😉

Gator scoring is up, 3 pt % is up, and free throw shooting % is up over prior year. Gators started hot last year going 6-0 with wins over FSU (Whites first in 7 years) and the buzzer beater against Ohio St. But then we went 14-14 the rest of the way and missed the tourney. Hopefully this year is the opposite. We improve down the stretch vs limping home. We shall see.

Mike was a cheap tin can.
While Todd is GOLDEN.
AND AWAY WE Gooooo!

I'm now converted to the 'New & Improved' viewpoint....
😍

I was glad Mike White moved on, but so far I'm not impressed with Todd Golden. Methinks the problem may be with the AD.

Agreed. White was a middle of the pack guy. He caught lightning his 2nd season but then fizzled. Not sure what to think of Golden just yet. But if we were willing to meddle in mediocrity for 7 years Golden should at least get 2 to 3.

Mike, just like Dan, had to try to deal with 2 years of a Scamdemic that no other Gator coaches have ever had to deal with.

And KJ going down because of a poison fake vax that is killing people world-wide.

But hey, let's not include any of the actual facts when judging either of them....
🙄

Gators lost a close, tough game tonight. They had it in their grasp and just couldn't finish down the stretch. 3-19 shooting 3's, outrebounded 40-28 and gave up 17 offensive rebounds to Auburn. We had 12 turnovers to 9 assists, they had 15 turnovers to 16 assists. We shot 17-19 from the free throw line, but Bonham missed a crucial front end of a 1 & 1 with a couple of minutes left. Down 1 with just a few seconds left, Castleton got stripped trying to drive to the basket. He got outplayed by their bigs, scoring only 6 points, 1-6 from the field with 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 turnovers. Reeves had a nice game, as did Myreon Jones. Tough loss dropping to 7-6 and they still haven't beaten a good team. They should win their next 2 games, at home against Texas A&M and Georgia, but who knows.

Castleton only plays good against weaker competition. He really struggles against any quality to decent big man. He’s been pretty disappointing.

I wouldn’t count our next 2 games wins at all with this team to be honest. Not very impressed with quite a few things.

Yep Castleton not having a good outside shot with his build probably means he plays in the developmental league or overseas when he departs.

Had KJ been vaccinated prior to his collapse? I have not read that anywhere, and it would surprise me if so. It had only been approved a day or two before his collapse, and was not available to most until a couple of days after

I think you are right on the dates and he had an issue besides that stuff.

I thought I remembered that KJ had 1-2 relatives die of Co-V prior to his collapse at FSU? Yes or No?
The only question I have is this.
Had KJ taken a CoV fake-vaccine prior to his collapse?
Unless that's answered first, I have nothing else to say on it...

https://drtrozzi.org/2021/12/25/its-beginning-to-look-a-lot-like-genocide/
KJ and other Gator teammates tested positive for COVID during the summer of 2020. The FDA granted authorization for Pfizer to distribute their vaccine on December 10, 2020 and mass vaccinations began 12/14. Moderna got similar authorization 12/17 and Johnson & Johnson on 2/27/21. KJ collapsed 12/12/20, 2 days before the vaccination program began, from what I read. There was initial concern that he had developed some heart issues as a result of the COVID virus, not the vaccine. However, UF, his family and others later said that was not the case. I believe very little of what is reported in the media, but it does appear that there is no way he could have been vaccinated before his collapse. And it is scary to read all the reports coming out now about after effects of the vaccine and boosters. My wife & I have 2 good friends, unrelated and living in different areas, who never had any heart problems in their lives until a a couple of weeks after they got COVID boosters. Both now have AFIB and one of them had to have a pacemaker with defibrillator installed. They will never be the same again and both of their doctors attribute their condition to the COVID shot and boosters.

Jus-sayin',,, but there are reasons that they might not have wanted to admit what caused KJ's collapse.

Either way, KJ's problem did severely affect the outcome of that season for Mike. Mike had spent the entire off-season building his offense to center around the projected SEC PoY KJ.

Is there anyone here that doesn't believe that both Dan and Mike had things happen that would cause them problems with their programs that were due directly to the Scamdemic?

UF Women's Basketball went 1-1 in their first week of SEC play, losing at home to Tennessee and then beating a pretty weak Texas A&M team in College Station Sunday afternoon 55-48. The Gators are 12-3 overall, with their next game at Arkansas Thursday night at 8 pm. The Razorbacks started out 13-0, with wins over ranked Clemson and ranked Creighton, but lost their next 3 games, to #16 Oregon, to USF in overtime, getting blow out by #9 LSU before beating Kentucky today 71-50.

Did the scamdemic happen just in Gainesville?

As far as KJ, I’ve never seen anything saying he was vaxxed when he collapsed. Just that he had Covid a couple weeks prior. But I agree that was about as tough a hit as a college coach is going to take, losing an all American player.

I would also note that it does not appear that we upgraded the HC position for gator hoops at this point. And I was in favor of getting rid of White.

Apparently not, since aTm had a FULL HOUSE for our game out there....
And what was the response to Dan from Socialist-U when he wanted to FILL THE SWAMP?

Getting a new coach is one thing, but constantly ragging/dissing on a coach is another. Mike White is a proven good coach, even if he didn't work out for UF, and the same goes for Dan imo.

JMOHO but in house politics and dinner party ass-kissin' plays as much of a part in a coaches firing, as his team's results....

How Billy and Todd work out,,, is yet to be seen, but I care a little less each day about what goes on at the school in hogg-town....

Mistake to respond. Just opens the door, IMO.

The Mullen thing is interesting. Definitely seemed like he got seriously sideways with the admin. I’m sure the “pack the house” thing was part of it, along with being told to fire Grantham. By the middle of the last season, Mullen’s attitude was basically “take it or leave it,” which was never going to work. I remember Thamel reported he was leaving in like week 8, so there was some serious behind the scenes stuff going on to be sure.

Mullen had to go with his recruiting. Its a good thing it fell apart at the end so he didn't get another season. With NIL it would have made his recruiting even worse probably. I could see Mullen doing alright at one of these top football schools that are mostly buying the players though since he knows offense when he has the players to run it.

Final thought on this:

Both Dan and Mike are now sitting at home crying about not having to put up with the BS at Socialist-U any longer,,,,, while counting their MILLIONS.....
🙄

When you can walk away as a Multi-Millionaire, those tears dry up pretty fast I'm betting....
🤓

While I, ,unlike you, can only speak for myself, I'm hoping that one day you can finally have a coherent thought to share, instead of your usual boring ass drivel... 🤗
