Carry over to Gator 2023-24 Basketball :-)

Come on everybody, just stand back, watch and enjoy, because this 'new & improved' HC knows exactly what he's doing.

Plus everyone has claimed that he should not be beat up on or judged until his 3rd or 4th year, so just sit down and STFU about this years teams with new HC's....
😁

Loved Mike White, but after 7 years we knew what he was. Not sold on Golden, but unless there is a total meltdown he gets at least 3 seasons. I still remember after Billy's first season people were calling for his head too.

People called for his head from 2002-2005 due to his team's early exits from the NCAA tourney. I remember fat ass Tony Boselli(on Dan Hicken's radio show) mentioning it many times in 2008-2010 that BD should have been canned. The same Tony Boselli who pronounced Ed Orgeron's name, OreJohn.

The SI Book says UF 62 - 65 MsSt -- Tonight at 8:30 PM on SEC-Net

Last Meeting was UF 80 - 72 MsSt

PS - When nobody on the starting team can even spit and hit the ocean, then it's long past time to give players like Lane and Klatsky a few minutes on the court. Because a spark can come from anywhere when you've only made 2 baskets plus FT's for a freakin' historic 12 Pt 1'st Half.

Boselli is the posterchild for

He didn't last more than a couple of seasons broadcasting when he retired. 😂

In a game between 2 bad teams, Gators win by 2. Blew a 16 point lead early in the game, then almost blew a 10 point lead down the stretch. The 2nd half Castleton settled for a bunch of outside shots, missed a layup and had a dunk under the basket and threw it outside. He's our best player, but he got manhandled tonight. 5-14, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 turnovers. Lofton and Richard had nice games, but we really missed CJ Felder's presence in the paint tonight. But it's a win.
We get South Carolina Wednesday and then hit a brutal stretch - Kansas State, Tennessee, Kentucky & Alabama

That game shouldn’t of been as close as it was. Again inconsistent and the players at times just make some really bad decisions on what to do with the basketball as far as passing and shot selection. Ugly win but I guess a win is a win. The defense has been much improved as of late however.

Yep to have any chance to make the tourney we would need to split those 4 tough games probably. KY looks like the only one we probably could win but its on the road so it won't be easy.

UF is 10-2 in Quad's II, III, & IV games.
With the 2 Pt win vs MsSt, they are now 1-6 in Quad 1 games.
Note: 4 of UF's next 5 games are vs projected Quad 1 Teams.

"Unlike the contests before it, Florida's initial product was impressive. At the outset of the matchup, the Gators shot the ball well and showed few cracks in their game, something they've seldom done in recent weeks to open play."

Game Summary:

Hot +16
Cooling - 45 - 45
Cold - MsSt 23-7 Run
Warm enough to win. - FG's 41.8%, 16 Ast's, 8 TO's
Gators got 2 Pt lucky as the clock ran out.
UF 61 - 59 MsSt

Florida remains sitting on the outside edge of the Tourney bubble...
For the long version you can go here:

PS - The SEC's excuse for game officials, again meets their eternally low standards.... 🙄

We jumped from 51 to 45 in the NET rankings after last night's win. The next 5 games will tell the tale as to whether or not we have a realistic chance at making the tournament. I'm not very optimistic but will still be pulling for our Gators.

Meanwhile UF Women's BB team beat up on lowly Vanderbilt this afternoon, handling them 73-56. Gators improve to 2-5 in the SEC 13-7 overall. The SEC has 2 great women's teams, South Carolina & LSU, 5 very good teams, Tennessee, Arkansas, Alabama, Miss. State & Ole Miss, 2 absolutely horrible teams, Texas A&M & Vandy, and 5 below average teams, Missouri, Georgia, Florida, Auburn and Kentucky.

0-22 vs top 5 AP opponents since start of 2004-2005 season.

That's an interesting stat. Does that include the shellacking they just got from the Vols(#4)?

Them being 3-4 in the SEC and on a 3 game losing streak....if they don't beat USC @home than the wheels might fully come off.

Usc is a bad, bad team. They aren't a team that just barely gets beaten. They get the crap kicked out them regularly. Which makes UK losing to them amusing, at Rupp no less.

Don't worry about that game @instaGATOR they will be ready for Tennessee to try and get back on track.

The Gator's super good team offense made 31% of its shots, including 4 of 22 18.2% from the arc... Todd's solid critique of that shooting exhibition was
"Gotta make shots." (wasn't shooting consistency one of his hallmark goals?)

Fudge came off the bench to play 13 minutes for the Gators, scoring 2 Pts on 1-of-3 shooting while grabbing a lone rebound against the Wildcats. PF Fudge was limited in his return, while PF Felder is still sitting out the games. Marvelous, and solid player rotation planning by the coaching staff...

With an advantage in the low post, the Wildcats consistently attacked the rim, outscoring the Gators in the paint, 32-24

Castleton said. "When it comes down to it, when you get open looks you have to be confident and believe in yourself. I think it was affecting our defense. We were missing some open shots and weren’t running back as hard as we should’ve and weren’t talking as much as we should’ve and that was something that we needed to key on.”

Do or do not. There is no try. -- Yoda

The loss dropped Florida to 1-7 in Quadrant 1 games, and the Gators fell four spots in the NET rankings, Florida ranked No. 50 following Saturday's slate of games.

I feel bad for Tennessee when they come to town. The Gators are really going to be up for this game.

Women Gators lost on the road 66-56 to an Auburn team that had, basically, the same record as us. We're now 13-8, 2-6 in the SEC. Not food, especially now that we have Jordyn Merritt back from an extended leave of absence.

You think the coach was a one year wonder?

No - We had an All-SEC guard last year who led the team in all kinds of ways. Our leading returning scorer and rebounder was lost for the season due to injury and our 2nd best player took off 6 weeks for personal reasons. She's got a Top 10 recruit coming in next year and the ladies play hard for our coach. She inherited a terrible team with major morale issues and last year they overachieved. They're still going to be around .500 for this year and I think will start building on that next season and into the future. Women's basketball at UF has been our weakest sport for years and I honestly think Coach Finley has started the process of turning it around. At least that's what I hope.

Played ok except for the 2nd quarter where they scored 2 pts. In ten minutes 2 pts now think about that

Bites and nearly severs his tongue/fingers.... 😶 ------------- 😉

TG - Out of Conf. 7-6, SEC 5-3, Overall 12-9...
NIT,,, if they get lucky....

If we are going to get on track it needs to start tonight. Tennessee plays real good defense but if we can score just enough in a low scoring game we could win. If they score in the mid 70s+ we will probably lose this game.

My guess is we lose by 20. Would love to be wrong.

I'm not sure how we are going to get any rebounds. Vols are big. Anything under a 10 point margin is a good night. The time to catch the Vols is in March when Rick will have them playing at their worst.
