Our guys played sloppy, though. Kicking the ball all over the place and no discipline at the plate. Will it be Leftwich or Dyson starting Game 2?

Very disappointing on both counts. If India and Dalton are going to go 0-8, we're not going to be able to afford errors. I'd like to see Dyson start. Whoever it is will be on a short leash, obviously. It's all hands on deck. Sully will have no problem asking for 4 innings from Butler and Byrne.

He started Leftwich, who walked 3 in the 1st inning. India made an error. They got 1 hit, a blooper, but 2 runs. FAU is using a junk ball pitcher who has only thrown 24 innings all year. And of course we aren't adjusting and just popping stuff up. Hoping they can get their focus and pull it out.

Been the story of the end of the season. Few hard hit balls and the ones we do hit go right at them. Leftwich has settled down. Hopefully we can put up some runs and put some pressure on these guys.

Leftwich isn't looking long for this game. He's stumbling around after that weird step on the follow through. See if we get anybody up.

Got to send Maldonado there with 2 outs. Make the guy make a perfect throw. Another at ‘em ball to end the inning.

I’m surprised Sully is keeping Leftwich out there. He looks like he’s struggling, physically, although he is pitching great.

How can you get grown out at third there!? If that’s on the third base coach, he’s having a rough game.

Their pitching coach appears crazed. You’re the one who put the dude in the hole, calling for breaking balls.

Back to back.

Looks like the good guys may pull it out. Up 5-2 on Home runs by Girand in the 4th and back-to-back by India & Dalton in the 5th. Just need 2 more innings from the bullpen before we Feel the Byrne to close it out.

Great win! Girand was a gift from above. I had never heard of the guy before this weekend and he hits 3 hrs in the regional. Pitching was solid.

Great win bring on the tigers and their #1 pick. Very shocked Singer lasted until #18. Go gators.

Singer will definitely be motivated by their draft slots. I was also surprised that he went so low. He probably would have been a higher pick last year, and he has done nothing but dominate this year, so I think the process has some flaws. I saw one draft prospect list that had JJ out of the top 10 catchers. He has to be one of the top 5 most productive offensive catchers in NCAA history.

Thanks, man. Knew about the current Gators, but not the recruits. That's always the tricky part. Deciding to recruit kids that are good enough to be a high draft choice but still want to go to college for 3 years. It's always interesting to see what these 18-year olds decide.

The 'smart' ones will come to UF for some 'baseball seasoning' (and some serious college FUN) :D before taking on a job...

The one's that would never have likely gone to college anyway, AND are offered millions to sign a contract, will do what's in their own best interest,,, just as it should be. o_O

Whichever way they go, I wish them all well....

GAINESVILLE, Fla.Austin Langworthy's game-winning, walk-off home run to send the Gators to Omaha will be rewatched, discussed, relived and tweeted about forever. Rightfully so. It was one of the biggest home runs in Florida baseball history. However, that play wouldn't have happened if not for the stellar performance by junior RHP Michael Byrne, the Gators' closer turned long reliever.

He threw 49 pitches after combining for 38 in the first two games of the series. The four innings he threw were the most he's thrown in an outing this season and the most since throwing five innings against USF in the 2017 Gainesville Regional."He's a starter that's in the back end of the bullpen," O'Sullivan said. "That's what he does. He's got three pitches for strikes, holds runners, fields his position." Given Byrne's steady, quiet and unflashy style, perhaps it's fitting that he would be the 'Most Valuable Player' yet overshadowed by a teammate.

I told my better half at the end of the 10th inning, that IF the Gators lost this game, it wasn't going to be Bryne's fault, that he was doing his usual EXCELLENT job of pitching. Then Langworthy happened! -- iG :)

Hope JJ is OK to play in Omaha. We need his bat in the middle of the lineup. But Maldanado is our DH, so he has to be OK to either catch or play 1st base.

So on paper, GATORS WIN!
However, the game is played on the field, so we'll see..... o_O
GooooooooooGATORS!!!

All the demons that haunted this team late season popping back up. Bad offense, sketchy defense, bad job by the catcher handling pitches. Schwarz injury was just a killer. Derailed our offense and is making us worse at 2 positions defensively right now. Hopefully we can string some abs together and tie this thing. Be tough to lose game 1 with Singer pitching.

Looks bad. Girand cannot catch a ball in the dirt. It’s not his fault, but top national seed can’t be starting a bullpen catcher. We had three catchers drafted last year.

Their lineup looks better too. Singer’s been throwing nothing but strikes all game, but now they’re over the middle of the plate.
