AP poll and strength of record

According to Seth Walder an ESPN analytics, Notre Dame is ranked 2 for Strength of Record and he says if a team was put in that schedule they would only have a 8% chance to have the same record as Notre Dame (7-0). Florida is 9th for strength of record. This is dumb. Notre Dame has played not one team that is still ranked and the rest of Notre Dame’s opponents are all unranked. Meanwhile, Florida has played 3 teams that are ranked right now, one in the top 5.

Another thing, Florida is somehow ranked 11 in the AP poll. Behind LSU that they beat and Georgia whom was beat by LSU whom was beat by Florida. They are also behind UCF who had a strength of schedule of 110th. :mad: :mad: :mad:

Correct.

While highly unlikely, we will be fine with wins over
LSU
@Moo
@UT
Georgia
@FL State
Alabama in Atlanta

Can dream. And you too Missouri and SC.

ND has beaten two ranked teams. One by 21 (#24 Stanford) and the other by 7 (#5 Michigan). Florida has lost to #12 Kentucky by 11 and beaten #4 LSU by 8. They have also played a FCS team, whereas ND did not.

With one more loss than the Irish, this rating seems reasonable. Besides, the only ranking that matters is the playoff one. Everything else is irrelevant.

So Mississippi State doesnt count?

For their #3 Ranking, NL beat #14-5 Mich, #7-24 Stan, #24-NR VaTech

For their #5 Rankiing, Mich beat #15-20 Wis & #24-NR MichSt (joke ranking) :rolleyes:

For the #9 Ranking, UF beat #14-NR MsSt, #5-4 LSU.

AP Media-Morons can 'vote' teams anywhere they want to, but the CFP shows reality.

UA 35 - 0 NL by half time the last time the moron voters put the has-been chumps in.
If they play again this year, it might be UA 35-0 NL in the 1st quarter.... :cool:

They were ranked when you played them? You sent them to the unranked on the road. Just win...
So does ND get credit for beating #14 Michigan at the time they played, the #21 ranking they got afterwards or the #5 they are now? Similarly does LSU get credit for beating #7 Auburn, #9 Auburn, or the unranked they are now?

"At the time they played" is silly. Based almost entirely on speculation and preseason hype.

They haven't lost, haven't played a FCS team, and this insistence on ranking "at the time they played" is ludicrous. Hell, depending which metric you use, their SOS is better right now (such as sp+)

And if you want to pimp the LSU win so much, I guess Purdue should be at least somewhere in the top 10, since they just obliterated #11 by 30 points. Well, I guess you'd go by their #2 ranking though.

Umm doesn’t Purdue have 3 losses?? Maybe if they only had 1 loss your point would be valid.
