Any word on Grimes and Jefferson?

Our receivers don't have much talent at all except for the transfers coming in. Cleveland is the only decent SEC top level one eligible right now.

Florida's offense received a boost on Friday. The SEC ruled in favor of allowing players to transfer from a school facing NCAA sanctions to another program within the conference without sitting out a season. This ruling now paves the way for Ole Miss transfer, Van Jefferson, to play this season for the Gators.

To be clear, the NCAA still needs to rule on this case, however, as stated above the other situations were ruled in favor of the athlete transferring from Ole Miss.

https://florida.rivals.com/news/jefferson-can-play-immediately-for-gators*

And this does not affect the Grimes xfer from tOSU.- He still needs an NCAA waiver.

Not just a school facing sanctions but any school within the conference… So any grad transfer can play immediately and they do not have to sit out a year…

By NCAA rule, a Grad-xfer could already xfer without a sit-out year.
3-Gor played immediately, while Hudson had to sit out a year for example.

Neither Jefferson nor Grimes are Grad-xfers.

An SEC school on sanctions would be like a Grad-xfer with no sit-out year. That is the SEC rule change. All non-grad xfers will still need an NCAA waiver to play immediately.

What is the (current -- today) problem with the Gator WR's?
JMOHO's of course....

McNuss's excuse for an offense.
WR coach Dixon, had never coached WR's before.

They are all gonzo now, except for Franks anyway....

Along with absolutely no talent 2-3 stars recruited at WR....

Yawn. Wake me when UF scores an offensive TD against FSU. Hell, wake me when they can compete on the same field.

You've never been fully awake as far as I can tell, but do let me know when FSUcks has more head-2-head wins than UF has.

UF 52 -20 FSUcks in the biggest game in the series history.

Now, hold your breath until I post on the snore-rant, where you and everyone else takes their afternoon talleycrappy siestas....

You realize of course how silly you like offering up a 22 year old reference? (which doesn't even make sense because we've scored touch downs much more recently than that but I assume you some how think a 22 year old reference would offend someone, really tweak them."

Moving right along....

Gator WR's for 2018:
Experienced and already in the rotation:
WR Dre Massey rsSr - Slot
WR yrie Cleveland Jr
WR Josh Hammond Jr
WR Frankie Swain Jr
WR Kadarius Toney So - Slot / Wildcat -- Joystick
-----
~ Must still get NCAA waivers to play in 2018.
WR Van Jefferson rsJr (waiver likely)
WR Trevon Grimes So (waiver unknown)

----------
Working for playing time, any one of them could explode:

WR Rick Wells rsSo (twice suspended, on last chance imo)
WR Daquon Green So
WR/KR Jacob Copeland Fr
WR/CB Justin Watkins Fr (might go DB/ST's, ++ depth at WR)
-----
WR Jaylin Jackson Fr - Slot / Wildcat
P-WO mini-Harvin - use him or lose him, because he's a baller with ship offers....

The 2018 Difference Maker:
WR's Coach - Billy Gonzales - Co-OC :)

=============

Fall Pre-season 1st Looks:

RB - Lay-O-Ded!
WR - Lay-O-Ded!
TE - Lay-O-Ded!
OL - Needs major improvement in consistency, and injury free please.....

QB - Trask / Jones please... (Leak / Tebow-ish)
If that combo QB should fail (unlikely imo), then they could always throw Franks back in for his 3rd go-round, while waiting for Jalon to arrive for 2019... o_O

I was surprised when I saw Jefferson's actual stats yesterday. He was the 4th most productive receiver on Ole Miss (which passes a lot for an SEC team) in 2017 and averaged 45 yards a game in 2016 and 2017. If you adjust that to Mullen's ratio of passing usually it would project to him getting about 30 yards a game but he will probably be 2nd to Cleveland here so that will get him more chances. Just surprised his numbers weren't bigger in that pass heavy offense with all the talk about him.

I posted the discrepancy between hype vs stats weeks ago, but it seems that the hype always overrides the actual production, and besides, stats don't matter I'm often told...

Tyrie Cleveland - Deep Threat (yds per rec - 19.7)
2017 - 22 for 410 yds, 18.6 yds/rec, 2 TD's, L 63 yds.
2016 - 14 for 298 yds, 21.3 yds/rec, 2 TD's, L98 yds.
Career - 36 for 708 yds, 19.7 yds/rec, 4 TD's, L 98-63
QB - LDR, Appleby, LDR, Franks, Zaire, Franks.

Van Jefferson
- Dink and Dunk (# of rec - 91)
2017 - 42 for 456 yds, 10.9 yds/rec, 1 TD, L 40 yds
2016 - 49 for 543 yds, 11.1 yds/rec, 3 TD's, L 44 yds.
Combined 91 for 999 yds, 11.0 yds/rec, 4 TD's, L 44-40
QB - Ta'amu, Patterson

Both are solid 4 star receivers, but they have demonstrated different skill sets.
What either of them does in Mullen's offense has yet to be seen. o_O
==============

Freddie Swain 2016-17
16 for 214 yds, 13.4 yds/rec, 3 TD's, L 33 yds.

Josh Hammond 2016-17
32 for 423 yds, 13.2 yds/rec, 0 TD's, L 53 yds

Swain got the TD's (3), Hammond got the catches (32)
Both averaged 13+ yds/rec.
==========

Dre Massey - Slot
2017 - 11 for 149 yds, 13.5 yds/rec, 1 TD, L 38 yds

Kadarius Toney - Slot-RB-Wildcat
2017 - 14 for 121 yds, 8.6 yds/rec, 1 TD, L 23 yds

ALL of UF's receivers (except tFr slot-RB-wildcat Toney) had a better yds/rec average than Jefferson. Toney took a lot of dump-off's for short yards that prevented sacks.
