A little help for getting past the no Spring football...

JMOHO's, which are not set in cement.... August is a ways off yet.

DB Dean asked to move back to CB from STAR during the 2019 season.
IF he goes back to CB now, it will be as a backup imo.
I see Wilson and Elam as the starters.
However, Tre might make a starter if at one of the safety positions.
I really believe that at safety is where he could shine in 2020, but we'll see.

RB Malik Davis has been a favorite of mine since he first signed his LOI.
He started out big, then had 2 seasons of injuries, leading to #3 RB in 2019.
Dan say's that he's back now to 100%, both physically and mentally, and if so, he could be /#2 in 2020 behind Pierce.
The thing here is that all of the rest of them have 4-5 star talent, so it's still a wait and see... Nice problem to have imo. (all building up their resume's, with no fatigue injuries)

Wells, Grimes, and Copeland are the primaries at WR, with Toney in the slot.
I'm really looking forward to seeing Whittemore, Marks and Weston on the field.
Those high quality Fr will have time to learn and develop. With the schedule, they should get a little playing time in 3-4 games, but I'd be surprised if they don't all end the season with a redshirt intact.

Agreed with Insta...we'll have to wIt and see. Good thing is we're finally getting back to a position where we have some good problems.

We also have a great QB in Trask...Emory who is very promising/can step in at any time and the new kid from GVille who looks to be like Cam Newton. Really excited to see this program moving forward.

Sucks for the other ones that got canceled.

JMOHO, but it's a dis-service to say scam-Newton's name in the same sentence wid our classy 4.0 character new guy... And no comparison in IQ's, on or off the field.

Take the 2020 bright spots wherever you can find them... ;)

Losing 4 Sr WR's would be a big hump to get over, if not for 5 experienced receivers returning.
Rick Wells, Trevon Grimes, Kadarius Toney, TE/WR Kyle Pitts, and Jacob Copeland.

The 'Human Joystick' if healthy, can be a difference maker in 2020.
As to slot-WR/RB Toney's career touches at UF:
Rushing - 47 for 8.9 ypc ----- Receiving 50 for 12.1 Yds/Rec.
He has 97 touches for 1,025 yds, 10.6 yds/touch with 3 TD's.

The Gators loss of 4 Sr WR's to the NFL is sure to kill them in 2020,,, right?

Not hardly imo.----- Why?

QB 1a starter rsSr - 67% (237 of 354). 12.4 yds/comp
QB 1b a playing backup rsSo - 65.8%% (25 of 38), 10.7 yds/comp.
QB FNG won the Elite-11 distance throw competition with a 70+ yard throw.
Around 6-4 230 dual threat that runs like a deer, but would rather stand in the pocket and throw. Very raw but with talent to spare. He will push the 2 upperclassmen.

Florida's 2019 receiving corps was the only FBS team to feature 8 pass catchers with 20-plus receptions, 250-plus yards with a touchdown… (Sr RB with 40)

That means that the Gator's return 3 of those experienced 20+ guys for 2020, plus they will be adding in 3, 2nd year rsFr and 3-4 FNG's, including a rsFr xfer from PSU.
Justin Shorter 6-4 226 rsSo ***** - 12 for 137 yds, 11.4 yds/rec.

Returning on offense with 2019 playing experience:

TE/WR Kyle Pitts 6-6 246 Jr **** - Soph.1st Team All SEC and 2nd Team AA.
2019 - 54 for 649 yds, 12.0 yds/rec, 5 TD's. - Leading receiver in total catches.

WR/ST's Trevon Grimes 6-5 214 Sr *****
33 for 491 yds, 14.9 yds/rec, 3 TD's.

WR/RB Kadarius Toney 5-11 194 Sr **** Ath - Injuries have slowed his total output.
7 Gms - Rec 10 for 194, 19.4 yds/rec, 1 TD --- Rush 12 for 59 yds, 4.9 ypc

WR Jacob Copeland 6-0 192 So ****
21 for 273 yds, 13.0 yds/rec, 2 TD's.

WR/ST's Rick Wells 6-0 202 rsSr **** - Stuck behind 4 NFL WR's.
Early 'off the field' problems and injuries have slowed him. Break-out coming.
2 for 27 yds, 13.5 yds/rec.

TE Keon Zipperer 6-2 232 So **** - His role expanding for 2020.
3 for 31 yds, 10.3 yds/rec, 1 TD
-----
RB Malik Davis 5-11 195 rsJr **** - Slowed by injuries, break-out coming.
6 for 41 yds, 6.8 yds/rec

RB Dameon Pierce 5-10 207 Jr **** - Projected 2020 starter
4 for 30 yds, 7.5 yds/rec

Gator football at #7 in updated preseason Top 25 rankings.

Florida’s trajectory under Dan Mullen suggests that serious playoff contention lies in the near future. Of course, Georgia is a hurdle in the Gators’ path. On offense, the potential for a quarterback competition between Kyle Trask and Emory Jones shouldn’t overshadow the need to develop the receiver corps.

Gator 2020 RB's:

Returners:

Malik Davis 5-11 195 rsJr (4th year)
https://247sports.com/Article/Dan-M...ent-Lorenzo-Lingard-NayQuan-Wright-144880972/
-----

Demeon Pierce 5-10 207 Jr (3rd year, 5.6 ypc, projected starter)
-----
Iverson Clement 5-11 193 rsSo (3rd year)
-----

Nay'Qual Wright 5-9 195 rsFr (2nd year)
=====

With a couple of 5-star possibilities waiting in the wings:
-----
Lorenzo Lingard 6-0 202 rsSo - Mia xfer - Needs an NCAA waiver to play at UF in 2020
-----
Zach Evans 6-1 190 Fr - Still uncommitted, but rumored to be a heavy UF lean.

One thing is certain imo, there is no lack of talent, experience, or depth at the position, even before considering the excellent 5-star possibilities.

And another thing, the way that Dan does things, every RB that is healthy and available will get playing time to match their practice and game production. Committee RB's, because Dan knows what works best.

I don't include the less used but significant rushing production from the other positions (the cake's icing so to speak), like QB runs or scrambles, jet-sweeps, or the end-around.

There are 2 other position groups that will help determine the running game season production. The continued development of the OL's run blocking, and the '3 & out' progress of the Gator's 2019 #9 in the nation defense.

I'd already posted much the same here weeks ago, but if you'd like a 2nd opinion go here...

Just some 'dead time' FYI stuff... ;)

The Gators 2020 Receivers, listed by Height, going by 2019 roster,
or by their 'suspect-changing' 2020 recruit bios.

There are 15 WR's on roster, 8 are 6-3 to 6-6, 2 xfers that need waivers, 1 unsigned.
~ Those in BOLD have playing time as Gators.

WR/TE Kyle Pitts 6-6 239 Jr

WR Trevon Grimes 6-5 214 Sr

#14 WR Jaquavion Fraziars 6-4 205 Fr

WR Justin Shorter 6-4 235 rsSo - xfer from PSU - needs wavier

#47 WR Leonard Manuel 6-4 205 Fr - verbal commit, but not yet signed

WR/Ath Trent Whittemore 6-3 192 rsFr

WR Ja'Markis Weston 6-3 217 rsFr

#8 WR Xavier Henderson 6-3 180 Fr
==========
WR Dionte Marks 6-2 178 rsFr

WR Jordan Pouncey 6-2 205 rsJr - xfer from TX, needs waiver

WR Rick Wells 6-0 202 rsSr

WR/KR Jacob Copeland 6-0 192 rsSo

WR/RB Kadarius Toney 5-11 194 Sr

#72 WR Fenley Graham 5-9 170 Fr

WR/Ath Jaylin Jackson 5-8 172 rsSo - WO with D1 offers

Looks like a nice spread of speed and height to me.

=====

2020 TE's

Dante Lang 6-5 252 rsSo

#21 TE-Y Jonathan Odom 6-5 248 Fr

Kemore Gamble 6-3 241 rsJr

Keon Zipperer 6-2 232 So

Throw in the 5 RB's and the QB's will have plenty of targets to throw to.

The Gators already have a quality group of WR's returning, but get a load of these 2 FNG's.

Tough and talented enough to play both way in HS.

Jaquavion Fraziars 6-4 205

==========

Xavier Henderson 6-3 180

BillyG will have some fun with these FNG's comes August... :)

Losing 4 Sr WR's doesn't scare me like it would have in the last decade.

Looks like Fraziars and Henderson are going to be excellent additions.

Time to get the ole Fun N Gun started back up.

Dan's version of the 'Air-Raid' offense was working pretty good with Trask and the boys last season. I look for the running game to come a little more back into balance in the coming seaons, but we'll see how things unfold. I'm good with either way. :)

The Gator OL for 2020 is anyone's guess at this point in time.
This is the position group that I believe is hurt most by not having Spring football.
Spring was supposed to answer some of the coming OL shuffle, but now....

LT Richard Gouriage 6-4 298 rsSo (12 Gms, 5 LG starts)
LG/C Brett Heggie 6-4 330 rsSr (starter)
C/OG Kingsley Equakum 6-4 294 rsFr (2 Gms)
RG Ethan White 6-5 350 So (6 Gms,conditioning improving, Wt dropping)
RT Stone Forsythe 6-7 329 rsSr (LT starter)
Some believe that Heggie and White will switch sides.
Others see rsSr Heggie at center. Keee-rist what a mess....

6th Man - RT/OG Jean Delance 6-4 314 rsSr - 2019 RT starter
OT Michael Tarquin 6-5 279 rsFr (3 Gms, has a shot at 6th man)
-----
Either or Both of the true Fr EE's also have a shot at 6th man.
#14 OT Issiah Walker - #22 OT Joshua Braun
No Spring really hurts those two's chances, at least early.

Others on roster: Most will still get plenty of backup playing time.

OG/ST Tanner Rowell 6-2 283 rsSr (13 Gms ST's, 2018 DT)
OL T.J. Moore 6-5 305 rsJr (13 Gms backup)
C/OG Griffin McDowell 6-3 295 rsSo (13 Gms backup)
~ McDowell should be Equakum's main competition for center.
OT Will Harrod 6-5 334 rsFr (1 Gm)
OG Riley Simonds 6-4 303 rsFr (1 Gm)
OG Da'Quan Thomas 6-2 316 rsFr (DNP)
----- FNG's
#14 OT Issiah Walker Jr 6-4 309 **** 158/247 - Miami, FL (17 offers) - EE
Offers: UF-AU-LSU-SCa-MsSt-UK - FSU-Mia-UL-tOSU-PSU etc...

#22 OT Joshua Braun 6-6 335 **** - Live Oak, FL - UGly flip - EE
Offers: UGA - UF- AU-SCa--FSU-Mia-Mich-USF -- EE- UA-AA

#45 OG Richard Leonard IV 6-2 320 *** 5.7 - Cocoa, FL - EE
Finalists: UF - TN-UK-FSU - A previous UK commit.
Named the Offensive Line 'MVP of the Opening' in Orlando.

83 OT Gerald Mincey 6-5 325 *** - Ft.Lauderdale, FL
Offers: UF- UK-UG--AZ-FSU-Mia-GaT-NCSt-PSU-Pitt-UCF - UK flip

JMOHO's but the 2 Fr OG;s don't have much chance for playing time due to the roster's experienced depth. I see a developmental RS year for them, with playing time coming down the road. I like their size and potential.

With NO Spring to go on, here is the iG's 2020 roster starter W-A-G....

FS - Donovan Stiner - Sr
SS - Brad Stewart Jr - Sr

K - Evan McPherson - Jr

Looo-King-Guuud.... and many others will get lots of playing time in the rotations.

Other W-A-G's are wide open, so let's see um..... :D

The buttsniffin, leghumpin, nuttlickers certainly won't like this bit of 'talking season' news. :D:p:D

Only 6 active coaches have won a National Championship.

(kirby '4th & dumb' ain't one of those 6) ;)

On Friday, CBSSports.com polled its college football writers on which coach not already in that group of 6 would be first to win a national title. (just one man's opinion of course)

One, CBSSports.com's Ben Kercheval, picked Dan Mullen. In making his case, he wrote: (see article)

https://247sports.com/college/flori...llen-as-next-to-win-national-title-146737568/
==========

PS -- iG - Gators trending...
2017 4 win (3-5 SEC) & fired McLame UF 7 - 42 UGly (+35)
-----
2018 Ten win (5-3 SEC) Dan UF 17 - 36 UGly (+19)
2019 Eleven win (6-2 SEC) Dan UF 17 - 24 UGly (+7) (lost @ NC LSU by -14)

~~ In both losses, the opposing OL's had ZERO holding calls on pass plays. o_O
That's significant because UF led the SEC in sacks with 49 by 18 different players. Also with a total of 102 TFL.. -- LSU 1 TFL, 0 Sacks -- UGly 6 TFL, 0 Sacks.
BTW, real 'factual reasons' are not excuses.

~ 2020 The scoring flip occurs in Dan's 3rd season at UF.

"I promise you this: That’s just the beginning," Mullen said. "We finished in the Top 10 the last two years, and that’s just the beginning." ;) - :)

Not saying that Cam was a model citizen but guy can play football...he won Auburn a national title.

I"m not saying either or....I'm saying Cam is a good football player.

Okay, but so what in this discussion? Nobody ever said that he couldn't play ball.

Genghis Khan and Attila the Hun were both good with a sword.
Ted Bundy was a good driver.

See what I mean? ;)

I do but think that's a little extreme. Cam took money in college and stole a computer...maybe some other stuff but he wasn't a serial killer and mass murder. Again my first point great football player. I don't know the guy or have followed him closely but I haven't heard anything too crazy since his college days. I'm sure that there is more than I know but stealing a computer isn't the craziest thing I've ever heard of a 21 year old kid doing.
