2024-25 Basketball,,, all things considered...

Georgia came out attacking on offense and smothering on defense, plus they hit everything they threw up. We didn't match their intensity and basically everybody except Will Richard had a bad night. Clayton had his worst game of the year, but Haugh & Aberdeen were off, Condon was still rusty and Martin was below average. Throw in all the missed free throws and that's the formula for losing to an inferior team. Even with the comeback late, they didn't deserve to win the game. They didn't play together and hopefully this bit of humble pie will re-focus them for the stretch run. You just can't take any team for granted, especially on the road. Learn from it and move on.

Yep! As usual, Ocala is the voice of reason.

The whole reason we needed a 1 seed is because we get treated like we're playing against Kentucky every single game by the whistles.. we needed the easiest path possible to make a Final Four, I hope the millions the SEC makes from putting another team in to lose by 20 in the play in game was worth destroying one of their pillars this year.. Funny how UGA and Arkansas couldn't score 80 plus until JUST after they played Auburn, both of them.. That's why I really want this UF team to stick it up everyone's ass and go out for blood..

It's also worth noting just how ****ing hilarious it is that UF was demoted to a 2 seed DURING the game last night and no matter how many games Bama loses the thought of moving them off the 1 line is not even a possible thing.. Much less Duke not playing a single ranked opponent since DECEMBER FOURTH

A few games to go but I think most computer bracketology and other projections will likely have us as the 5th team right now and the top #2 seed. I think if we win @Bama there is a good chance we get a #1 seed but I think they want to limit the SEC to two #1 seeds if they can and Houston likely gets a #1 seed because of that.

If we lose @Bama I think the TN - Bama game winner likely determines the #1 seed as Bama won't be hurt by losing @Auburn in their last game if they just beat TN and us.

History says getting a #1 seed gives you a much better chance to make a Final Four than a #2 seed but I think that is more on the quality of the teams and think a #2 seed in Atlanta would be better than getting a #1 seed in California if Houston didn't get a #1 seed. We already showed we can beat Auburn away from home and they will likely get Atlanta.

It's just funny how in sports every year, also in football somehow people can't read between the lines of reality of which teams are legit or not.. Somehow the media is telling us, yet again.. that somehow this Houston team is different than the other ones that choked in the tournament because they can't score enough.. and that Tennessee is somehow different THIS time when they always lose in March when any team gets semi hot at all and they're season comes crashing down.. Or that Bama is a blue blood all the sudden because they had the easiest road to a Final Four of anyone last year because UNC was a fake 1 seed.. As Duke will be this year, Duke has 3 freshmen starting, this ain't 1 and done ball no more, all the top teams have grown men as seniors again because of how the game has changed.. There's no way anyone that has any intelligence or actually watches all these teams play every week that Florida isn't at the worst in the top 4 teams this year..

Again, no matter what happens all of this is why I wish Florida would just shove it up everyone's ass and prove a bold point like the 06 team did throughout the whole tournament and they were like a 4 seed. The players hear and see all this same nonsense from the media and there's no way it doesn't piss them off

The first of our national championship teams went into the tournament as a #3 seed. You can't lose to an unranked team that you beat by 40 a few weeks before and not expect to drop some in the polls and seeding projections. As of this morning we're still #4 in the NET rankings. But our SOS is only #27. We've only played 9 Quad 1 games and are 5-4. Auburn has 16 Quad 1 games and is 14-2. Alabama has 15 Quad 1 games and is 10-5. Duke has 9 Quad 1 games and is 6-3, plus 9-1 on the road. Houston has played 11 Quad 1 games and is 7-4, 9-0 on the road. I don't think it matters about #1 or #2 seed. The concern is that if we don't play better the last 3 games, we could drop even further. Win the last 3 regular conference games and it'll all be fine. Once the tournament starts, just win the games regardless of the specific seedings. If we're good enough we'll go far. Play like last night and we'll be out fairly quickly.

Yep don't really care about #1 or #2 seed except preferring a #2 seed in Atlanta over getting stuck out West with a #1 seed. I think as long as we only lost @Bama we would be a lock for a #2 seed either in the South or the East. If we lost 2 games I think we might still pull a 2 but location would come down to the other # 2 seeds locations.

What???
U-glee wins and getting bit in the butt.....
Naw, couldn't be correct or happen to the Gators.....

And D-1 College sports are a money making business (at least for some).

The Refs work for those controlling the $$$ flow, so they do as they are instructed.
Getting mad at the refs for doing what they are being paid to do is a waste of time imo.

None of this is new to me...................
Most of college sports have become entertainment, not true unbiased sporting competitions.
Pro Wrasslin' quality entertainment that's being run for the big bucks $$$.
So just sit back and relax, enjoying the entertainment instead of getting all 'worked up' over how they make their money now daze....

Alabama will be in the bonus of both halves with 9 minutes left.. If it was Armageddon just to go to LSU and UGA they might as well just rest the players for the Bama game, before you know.. one of our players legs gets broken or something again

I noticed that also about the seeding. It’s almost as though they knew we were going to lose.

Yep I am expecting them to try and help Bama out some especially if the game will clearly seal up a # 1 seed for them. We will have to come out like the Auburn game probably to get out of there with a win in that scenario.

That's exactly my point i've been trying to make.. You mean play perfect? Because that's what we always have to do to beat these teams.. How many games over the years have you watched when Kentucky, Duke, blue bloods etc.. has been shooting poorly or getting out played by their opponent and the worse they play the more help they get from the officials and just shoved to the free throw line for 40 plus attempts.. Basketball is the most rigged game I've ever seen and it's not even close, there's only so much you can do to help a team not good enough in football. If we play poorly at all you look up and a god damn Mike White team that struggles to score 60 against everyone else, magically has 43 points scored in 9 minutes of play.. It's truly sickening if you've been watching basketball long enough

During the 2nd half matchup between Ole Miss and Auburn, Charles Barkley gave Todd Golden and the Gators mad props.

I appreciate your insight, but I just can't accept the idea that officiating is biased against Florida. Our perceptions for our team are biased and the thinking that refs come out with the intent of screwing Florida in games is, to me ludicrous. You have your perception and that's fine. But I don't agree with that perception. THEY aren't out to get us. Sometimes we get some bad calls, sometimes we get calls in our favor. It all evens out. Georgia beat us. They bdeserved to win the game. We're # 4 in the nation. If we're better than that, win the upcoming games and prove it. Go Gators.

The officiating to help Georgia make the tournament was worse than usual even for home court imo.

I can appreciate what you are saying as well.. I've been around these big sports at this high level for too long at this point, talked to too many officials myself.. I really wish it were as simple and as honest as you're making it out to be brother.. This isn't just a Florida specific thing, sports are going the way of crooked faster than anyone would want to believe..

I played a golf Tournament last summer with a very notable line judge in the SEC throughout the 90's and early 00's before he retired, you've all seen him on tv for years i'll say that.. he was having some drinks and buddy.. The stories about how things were even then in this conference pre NIL would change your view vastly on who the big dogs, the big players in this conference are and always have been and how they are treated from the top down.. and then in his words "new money" teams. I saw enough of it as a player in the SEC two decades ago.. Of course it's this way across all conferences spanning everywhere and now with NIL and playoff money, TV rights, conference re alignments, legalized gambling being a HUGE one.. it's the wild west out here. We'd all love for it to be just honest amateur contests decided by the players like it mostly used to be, but that's just not how the world works.. I was too close to the sun for too long to be naive to it like working in government. I, along with many others have stepped out of it for many of these reasons, you can't coach these kids anymore, some of them make more than us in college now..
