2024-25 Basketball,,, all things considered...

Our team overcame BS calls benefiting Wake Forest, and the team hasn't forgotten they mocked the chomp last year.

Then this happens.

NC may be the only big test the Gators get before SEC play. They have some losses but are a good team. The SEC is really loaded this year.
Auburn and Alabama are both top 5 teams. Vols and KY are both top 15. SEC is really deep this year. I could easily see 8 making the dance. Auburn has 8 seniors. That's crazy in todays college basketball world.

We are good boys, it almost makes me want to go see them play in uptown Charlotte vs UNC since it's just a 20 minute drive from me, but alas the past few years of Demoncratnomics has swelled my credit card debt, so I'll stay home and putter around the house before road tripping down by y'all after Christmas to swim with the manatees and visit family in Crystal River, haha.

I seriously considered buying 4 tickets at the last minute for the UF-FSU game tomorrow but I'll save it for one of the Gators in conference games in January. Preferably against Tennessee.

What a total beatdown they gave previously undefeated Wichita State today. 88-51 - total domination. The defense is so much better this yearm they dominated the boards 56-30 and shot it very well today. Chinyelu had a double double, plus 20 assists to only 8 turnovers. Can't ask for anything more.

On the flip side, Gator Women BB lost again, this time to James Madison 77-72, to drop to 3-4. Looks like a long year ahead for this program.

I had five football seasons as a student tix holder yet I've never been to a UF-FSU game nor a UF-UGa game. I always sold the FSU home game tix as a poor college student and I never road up to Jax while in school. I even gave up the '02 home game vs Mia. I didn't miss hardly any wins in person vs FSU or Mia during my '00 - '04 seasons in Gainesville. We were still beating Uga most of the time then though.

The Gator's use of the pick and roll is dismal most of the time.

The bigs breaking towards the basket are rarely given the ball with a lob or a good difficult to defend bonce pass.

The entire team should watch this and take notes on how to get it done.....

Does Golden have your number? He desperately needs to see this.

College basketball rankings: Florida Gators rise in AP Top 25 once again, open at No. 6 in NET.

Florida on Sunday was listed No. 6 in the initial NET Rankings of the 2024-25 season. The NCAA Selection Committee uses those rankings — which largely evaluates quality of wins and losses — as part of their process in choosing the NCAA Tournament field. The Gators are the third-ranked undefeated team with two quality victories thus far.

I know we were huge favorites and have won every game by double digits, but this was one I was worried about a bit.. UVA can be a nightmare for teams that play like we do, and they scored 20 in 7 minutes which is a miracle if you ever watch Virginia basketball.. This team just finds a way to go on those fast runs that can paralyze teams, and start catching fire shooting in little stretches. The depth and length of this team continues to be impressive.. About to play a lot of good teams in the next month, will see if they can keep it going...

UVA has always been a nightmare defensively under former coach Tony Bennett, and can be boring and unwatchable, which was Bennett's purpose. On a side note, it seems coincidental that their interim stepped down from his previous HC position at UNCC to return to VA as an assistant. Bennett then "retires" just 3 weeks prior to the start of the regular season after 24 seasons at UVA.

SEC is loaded this year. Best I've ever seen the conference. Lunardi said 10 sec teams could make the tourney.

Surprised NET ranking is that good considering our schedule so far. I think we have only played like 2 top 100 teams. Arizona State will be the highest NET team we will have played our next game. I do think this team is the real deal though.

We should probably just enjoy the moments as they come.
Not worrying about how far they go in the SEC or the Big Dance.

I sometimes in the past have gotten lost in the final destination,
while forgetting how to just enjoy the journey as it unfolds....

Big dance is most of it though. Sweet 16 or bust if this team is as good as I think it is. I am hoping it might be good enough to contend for the Final Four. Whoever wins the SEC regular season will be a big deal also with how strong the conference is this season.

Florida Gators men's basketball's best start in nearly 20 years has netted them a high tournament seed early on in ESPN's Bracketology.

Gainesville, Fla. — No. 13 Florida Gators men’s basketball team debuted as a ninth seed at the beginning of the year in Joe Lunard’s Men’s Bracketology: 2025 NCAA Tournament.

Since then, they’ve won nine straight games by double digits resulting in a rise from No. 21 to No. 13 in the AP Top 25 and a gigantic leap to a third seed in Lunardi’s latest projection.

While the team hasn’t played a daunting schedule to this point, they still have easily handled what’s in front of them, which has led to the Gators having the 6th-best NET ranking in the NCAA.
