Florida's last time out:

* The No. 24 Florida volleyball team tallied their third-consecutive conference win after coming back and defeating Tennessee 3-1 (25-27, 25-23, 25-16, 25-20) on Friday, Oct. 25 inside the Stephen C. O'Connell Center. The Gators jump to 5-3 in league play, while improving to 14-5 overall.

* Sophomore All-American Kennedy Martin lead the way with 31 kills, surpassing her previous career-high of 28 that she set at home against Tennessee last season on Nov. 3, 2023. She set the program's individual single-game kill record, as well as recording the most kills in a four-set match. Her 31 kills become the most registered during the 25-match point era, as former Gator Aury Cruz, the four-time AVCA All-American and three-time SEC Player of the Year, recorded 31 kills twice in her career when rally scoring went to 30 points. Cruz's last recorded 31 kills was against Nebraska on December 8, 2001 in Florida's Final Four match, which went into five sets.

* As a team, Florida reset their conference hitting-percentage high after recording a .444 clip, while Alexis Stucky and Taylor Parks both saw action in the fourth-setter. After starting the second set, Parks dished out 40 assists in her three sets of play, while Stucky recorded 14 of her own in the opening set.

* The Gators edged the Lady Vols in 7.0 - 6.0 total team blocks, eight players contributed to at least one dig on the stats sheet in the backcourt, as libero Elli McKissock led the way with 16 digs. Behind the service line, Florida recorded four team aces.

On Arkansas:

* The Razorbacks, who were projected to finish 8th in the SEC Preseason Poll, currently sit 4th in the league at 4-4 after being swept by Mississippi State on Sunday, Oct. 27. Arkansas leads the SEC in digs per set with 17.01, while sitting No. 5 in opponent hitting percentage (.192), No. 9 in blocks per set (2.12), No. 9 in Assists per set (12.33), No. 12 in kills per set (12.96), No. 12 in hitting percentage (.22) and No. 15 in aces per set (1.10) as a team.

* Senior libero Courtney Jackson individually leads the league in digs per set with 4.81, while senior setter Hannah Hogue ranks 9th with 3.72 and 8th in assists per set (10.04). Senior middle blocker and Tampa, Fla. native Zoi Evans sits fifth in blocks per set (1.29)

* Florida lost both matches against Arkansas last season, losing in three at home before falling in five on the road. The Gators have won eight of the last ten matches played against the Razorbacks in Fayetteville, AR.
Match Notes Preview:

* Martin Madness

* Sophomore All-American Kennedy Martin's career-high 31 kills in Florida's 3-1 comeback win, while hitting .542 to record the most kills by any Gator in a four-set match as well as the most kills registered during the 25-match point era. Former Gator Aury Cruz, a four-time AVCA All-American and three-time SEC Player of the Year, recorded 31 kills twice in her career when rally scoring went to 30 points. Cruz's last recorded 31 kills was against Nebraska on December 8, 2001 in Florida's Final Four match, which went into five sets.

* Additionally, the opposite hitter scored a career-high 32.5 points and tallied a season-high eight digs against the Lady Vols. Martin's 31 kills continue her streak of recording double-digit kills in every match she has played wearing the Orange and Blue (41 matches).

* Furthermore, she ranks second in the nation for most kills recorded in a four-set match, and averaged the most kills per set (7.74) and points per set (8.13) in matches played from Oct. 21 through Oct. 28. Martin currently ranks No. 1 in the SEC in points per set (5.61), second in kills per set (4.82), fifth in aces per set (0.43) and ninth for average hitting percentage (.361).

* GatorAce

* The Gators are currently averaging 2.04 aces per set as a team, which ranks first in the SEC and ninth in the nation. Three Gators are currently individually ranked in the Conference: Kennedy Martin fifth, Elli McKissock seventh and Taylor Parks ninth. Florida's 16 aces against Alabama State on Sept. 12 ties for seventh nationally for team aces in a three-set match.

* Attack Efficiency

* Through 19 matches in 2024, the Gators sit at a .302 clip in kill percentage, good for the highest in the SEC and 5th-highest total in the NCAA. Florida has hit above .300 nine times this season and recorded their best hitting percentage of .456 against Alabama State on Sept. 12. The Gators recorded their highest hitting percentage in Conference play on Oct. 25 against Tennessee after registering a .444 hitting clip. Additionally, the Gators have totaled five or less attack errors in 52 of their 69 sets played so far.

* Kennedy Martin, a sophomore opposite from Fort Mill, S.C., recorded a career-high 31 kills on 48 attempts for a .542 hitting percentage in the four-set win over Tennessee on Friday night. Martin's 31 kills also set Florida's individual single-game kill record and the most kills in a four-set match in program history. She was responsible for 32.5 points, eight digs and two total blocks for the match.

* Taylor Parks, a setter from Clearwater, Fla., helped the Gators post a .444 team hitting percentage in the sweep over Tennessee on Friday. Parks dished out 40 assists, which tied her career best for a three-set match. She finished the night with seven digs, four kills and one block.

SEC Finale on Wednesday
Florida ends its season Wednesday when it plays host to Tennessee. This is one of two Southeastern Conference matches originally set for Sept. 26 that Hurricane Helene pushed to Oct. 30.

These are the final two matches of SEC regular-season action, as the other 12 teams finished on Oct. 27. Both matches have a SEC storyline:

Tennessee at Florida
Florida's season ends Wednesday as the Gators are mathematically eliminated from the SEC Tournament. Tennessee must win to advance to the SEC Tournament as the ninth seed. A tie or loss and the Lady Vols do not advance to Pensacola.

Mississippi State at South Carolina
The Bulldogs already secured its first SEC regular-season title and the top-seed in the SEC Tournament. MSU will be looking to become the fifth team to post an undefeated record since the league began awarding a regular-season title in 2000 (Florida 9-0 in 2000; Florida 11-0 in 2008; South Carolina 11-0 in 2016; Alabama 10-0 in 2022). South Carolina can claim the SEC Tournament's third seed with a win or tie on Wednesday. A loss to MSU places the Gamecocks No. 4 overall.

Florida Loses 1-0 to Oklahoma
Florida soccer lost 1-0 to Oklahoma on Oct. 27 in the penultimate match of regular-season play.

OU scored on its first shot of the match in the 11th minute. Off Cassie Clifton's throw in, Ella Pappas sent the ball to center of box where Hadley Murrell used her right-foot to one-touch it in from 12 yards.

Florida created some great chances, especially in the second half. With 14 minutes remaining, Lena Bailey won the ball at midfield and moved through the field. She found Skye Barnes just wide of the box. Barnes took a few touches before sending a cross that Madison Jones' raised foot just missed. Delaney Tellex also had a look as the ball traveled to the far post before it was cleared.

A couple of minutes later, Jones' 25-yard free kick was headed just wide by senior Madison Young.

"Honestly, the only thing I think we didn't do up to our standard was literally their one chance. We just switched off and didn't track a player. But for 90 minutes, I thought we had a great intensity. We had a really competitive mentality. We created chances, especially in the second half," Florida Head Coach Samantha Bohon said. "I'm really, really, really proud of the fight so I'm sad for our players, because they deserved more than this."

About Tennessee:
Tennessee turned in a 9-7-4 record in 2023 and tied for eighth with its Southeastern Conference regular-season record of 3-4-3. The Lady Vols' 2023 season ended with a NCAA second round 2-1 loss at Nebraska.

Graduate Sammi Woods is the Lady Vols points (10) leader and shares the goals lead (4) with Macaira Midgley. Sophomore Ally Brown's five assists top the Lady Vols. Junior Ally Zazzara has started each match and owns a goals-against-average of 1.30.

Joe Kirt is in his third season leading the Lady Vols.

Going to my first Gator game in years for LSU vs. UF. Taking my wife and 17 year old son (future Gator - first Gator game). I need a place to stay in Gainesville. Nothing available through Hilton where I normally stay. Any ideas on a 2 bed place that won't put us in a sketchy area? Better yet - do any of you have a BnB in the area? Driving in from Tampa.

What do Harrs, The Cheney's, Romney, Obama, The Clintons, Mike Pence, Bush and McCain Staffers, and all the Others Have in Common

They are all part of the Deep State. They are so threatened by an outsider coming in and blowing up the Deep State. This is why they are banding together against Trump.

And for theo, the "deep state" is the bloated government bureaucracy that wants to continue to get fat and happy off of our money as they continue to tell us how to live our lives and pay our taxes. They don't want government to work for us, they want us to work for the government, which is BY DEFINITION OF OUR FOUNDING, UNAMERICAN!!!!!

New Story Best and Worst from the Weekend: (10/27)

Best and Worst from the Weekend: (10/27)

As you can imagine, when Florida is off, I try to avoid college football. Here are my best and worst from the weekend, non-CFB.

At the top of the list, and I do mean the top of the list, is UFC 308!

Featherweight: Ilia Topuria vs. Max Holloway

Middleweight: Robert Whittaker vs. Khamzat Chimaev

Honestly, I am not sure which guy impressed me the most. Khamzat rag-dolled Robert Whittaker, which I thought was impossible. I mean, total domination from the jump !! I can't wait to watch this guy fight for the title!

Ilia vs. Max was probably the most anticipated fight to date. What Ilia did to Alexander the Great was unheard of. Volk was widely considered one of the greats of all time, and he was knocked out cold by Ilia.

Enter Max Holloway, who has never even been knocked down before, which made for a very intriguing fight! It was a great fight, and Max definitely had his moments, but the raw power Ilia has in his hands is undeniable. They say the best part of his fight game is the ground game, which is CRAZY scary to think about.

Los Angeles Dodgers in dramatic fashion, with Freddie Freeman's walk-off grand slam, was a thing to watch! It was one of those moments in time you remember forever if you had the pleasure of watching it unfold.

Worst? It's pretty simple for me, as the future AL MVP Aaron Judge not only has been a nonfactor but 100% disappeared in the entire playoffs when his team needed him most. You can see it on his face; he looks like a man being beaten down, guessing, with zero idea what he is doing on the plate. LA Pitching is CHEWING him up right now.

This situation falls in the Best and Worst. (From ESPN)

Best for the reporter asking and worst for Franklin and his actions. Come on, coach, how did you not know that was coming your direction?

MADISON, Wis.: Penn State coach James Franklin apologized for walking away from the microphone Wednesday when asked about two former players who were accused by police of raping a 17-year-old girl in their apartment on July 7.

Kevin Durant became the eighth player in NBA history to score 29,000 career points.
