Good for him. As someone whose lost plenty of friends over there I have a severe problem with turning the country back over to the people we took it from.

How many times have the dems here chided 'war mongering pubs' for staying in Afghanistan? How many of the posters here said Trump was just like the rest for not bringing troops home?

Exactly.

Bringing troops home is a campaign promise I give presidents a pass on. The situation on the ground is classified, so while pulling out all the troops sounds like a great and easy idea, til they sit you down at your first national security briefing, you cant possibly know the sitrep, therefore cant possibly guarantee the promise. Ill glad be glad to see the troops come home from both theaters as long as it doesnt de stabilize the region.
