Your ideology...
Centrist

I must be the only moderate on this board.

Not according to your profile. Like what?
Well, I agree with Democrats on some things, like taxing the rich more, closing loopholes that allow them to avoid paying taxes; don't necessarily think Obamacare is the second satan, was never for it but don't care if it doesn't get repealed; I think background checks on private gun sales should be required, and don't think we need AR-15s.

Nice, pretty close to my views. I'll expect your support when gun control issues come up.

I don't like your taxing the rich comment though. Don't you think the top 10% paying 90% of the taxes is enough?

Ha, I support law-abiding citizens' right to bear (most) arms, there are already a ton of laws on the books. And I think gun-free zones are stupid. As for taxing the rich, I mean, I know they do pay a lot. But corporate bonuses seem out of control to me, especially during the economic disaster of 2008 and big business getting bailed out by uncle sam and still paying bonuses to top execs. I am all for Capitalism, but it does breed greed too.

I'm really torn on it...this is America, you should be able to get what you can get as long as you don't break any laws. Just something about million dollar bonuses paid by companies that received a bailout that rubs me the wrong way. But I do believe this is the land of opportunity and generally life is what you make it. You must work hard and should not expect to receive any handouts.

Corporate bonuses are probably too high in many cases but are hardly the only instance where people are overpaid compared to what they contribute. Sports stars, entertainers, etc. come to mind. In the business world, CEOs make far less than many hedge fund managers or private equity principals. CEOs just catch the brunt of the bad publicity since they work for high profile companies.

I believe this is a situation where any solution would be worse than the problem. In most cases, the CEOs salary is a small percentage of the overall revenue of the company. Congress tried to reign in CEO salaries a few years ago by not giving a tax deduction for salaries over $1 million. Instead, companies just started giving away more stock options which are tax deductible. Bottom line, its the free market that generally sets these salaries and they are the result of a long and successful career. While not all CEOs are successful, not just anyone can do these jobs.

Socialist 1% - wtf....how'd I get a % there????

Your political beliefs would be considered strongly Right-Wing on an ideological scale

Key word is "earn." I have less of a problem with CEOs getting paid if they run corporations that produce something of value and make money doing it. But the "wealth" generated by investment banks, hedge funds, etc... is illusory. Their profits depend on rising asset prices, stocks, property, etc... which are overwhelmingly driven by government money printing. Combine the fact that Wall Street would be a smoking crater in the ground if it weren't for taxpayer bailouts, and the salaries paid to financiers are criminal.

The thing that stands out to me about this quiz is how complex and nuanced the issues are. Definitely tough for two parties to adequately represent all the different viewpoints.
