They did the obligatory how great it is we won the gymnastics titles etc prior to digging in pretty hard about our facilities compared to the rest of the SEC now.

Matthews said he believes it is hurting recruiting not keeping up with the others in facilities and the others he has seen were better. Ackerman said our facilities were better than Vanderbilts and about the same as SC but worse than the rest including Kentucky's football facilities. They were also saying that Ole Miss had worse than us in 09 but had better facilities now and that even the baseball/softball facilities at UF are falling well behind the others now.

The facility rat race is a long standing one. UF's kept pace over the years...and I expect they will continue. Having the "best" is fleeting.

I heard this a few days ago. Several others such as Matt Hayes and plenty of other podcasters have said the same thing. The Foley supporters' response has been endless denial....as though these former players and several others in the media with Gator ties who have seen UF's facilities and those of our competitors were just making it all up. smh.

I can't believe recruits don't take into account the debt/equity ratios of the athletic department when deciding where to play ball.

It IS an arms race whether Foley wants it to be or not. Loftily declaring that we will not participate does not end the arms race. All it does is ensure we get left behind.

Foley saw no problem with our football team having to practice on a basketball court when it rains until this year (the basketball court was going to be unavailable).
