Ft Lauderdale

hey guys I live on the west coast, Marco Island. The wife and I wanted to get away for a couple days, and we were thinking Ft Lauderdale since it's close. Does anyone have any recommendations of places to stay? We are hoping for a hotel on or near the beach and close to some bars preferably with live bands that play 70-90's cover or similar original songs.
