The one time Gator lean is transferring from Colorado after one season

After seeing minimal playing time while in Boulder, CB McClain is in the transfer portal looking for a new home.

Don't know if this portal entry will turn out like

LB Grayson 'Pup' Howard​

or if CBN & the Gators even want him.

"...McClain finished the season with 277 defensive snaps and was graded out by PFF with the 11th lowest grade in the country among cornerbacks who took at least 250 snaps in 2023.

He will still have three seasons of eligibility left and is bound to draw some interest as a reclamation project given the potential he had coming out of high school."

Interesting to see how the world has turned after McClain "left us at the alter" last year.

The Mike Farrell article below states that McClain was a Miami commit right up until Early National Signing Day in December 2022. He spurned the Hurricanes and signed with Colorado.

Major problem I see - no scholarship available at this time - but that can change quickly.

As I understand it - NIL can be paid to any player -
BUT
IMO, NO WAY IN HELL he goes anywhere as a Walk On !

Perhaps he will be like South Carolina LB Grayson "Pup" Howard & come home to State of Florida & UF.

If McClain hadn't played some games before landing at CO last cyle, I doubt many gator fans would be against bringing him on. There's a lot of folks saying we shouldn't take him - on this side, we won like 5 games last year so if BN wants him - I'd take him lol.

Cormani and his mom are out shopping what his services are worth $$$$$$$$$$. I dont see any need to pursue him and his troubled past. If Deion who was by far the best secondary player of all time cant get him motivated to come to meetings and practice on time then how are we?

Jeff I'm curious as to how much he thinks his NIL value is on the market. I don't see the Gators shelling out top dollars for a guy that candidly the results haven't matched the potential. Will be interesting to follow.

247Sports currently ranks McClain as the No. 21 overall transfer prospect and No. 5 ranked cornerback on 247Sports transfer rankings.
As a high school prospect in the class of 2023, McClain was ranked as a 5-star on 247Sports coming out of Lakeland (Fla.), and was tabbed as the Nation's No. 14 overall prospect and No. 1 ranked cornerback.
